The West African Tax Administration Forum (WATAF) and the Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) have today formalised a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC), marking an important step in strengthening collaboration between tax administrations and civil society across Africa.
This milestone reflects a shared commitment to promoting fair, transparent, and inclusive tax systems, while advancing domestic resource mobilisation as a sustainable pathway for development.
The partnership provides a structured framework for cooperation in key areas including:
▪️ Tax policy research and analysis
▪️ Capacity building and technical support
▪️ Public engagement and advocacy on tax justice
▪️ Combating illicit financial flows and harmful tax practices
By bringing together institutional expertise and civil society perspectives, WATAF and TJNA aim to foster more coherent, accountable, and evidence-based tax systems across the region.
This collaboration underscores the importance of inclusive dialogue and partnership in addressing complex tax challenges and supporting sustainable development outcomes in Africa.
