WATAF in collaboration with the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes organized a 3-day seminar on Exchange of Information as a Tool to Combat Offshore Tax Evasion, from the 23 -25 October 2019, at Grand Pela Hotel, Abuja, Nigeria.
The seminar is expected to deepen the capacities of Tax Administration Officials from member states in the mechanism of Exchange of Information with an eventual increase in revenue generation in the region.
Furthermore, this seminar will focus on the connection between the domestic tax investigation, the information gathering framework and the international infrastructure for the exchange of information (EOI).
Participants were introduced to key concepts of transparency and EOI assimilated into the international standards: EOI on request (EOIR), automatic EOI (AEOI), confidentiality and beneficial ownership.
