WATAF organized the 15th General Assembly from the 18th-20th, September 2019 in Bijilo, The Gambia. The theme for the General Assembly was ‘Setting an Agenda for Effective Domestic Revenue Mobilisation in West Africa’
Part of the meeting was a High-Level Policy Dialogue on DRM that brought together diverse stakeholders from tax administrations, Ministry of Finance and Planning, academia, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), parliamentarians and the ECOWAS Commission to share experience and expectations from West Africa on the path to take towards formulating sound DRM policy frameworks domestically and sub-regionally to harness alternative source of domestic resources of West African countries.
The long term objective of the high-level policy Dialogue is to foster a growth agenda on a regional scale, keeping in mind the fact that ECOWAS Countries (which are also the members of WATAF) are mostly low income countries facing a number of socio-economic challenges which inhibits their ability to increase tax revenues.
