On 23 and 24 December 2025, the Executive Secretary of the West African Tax Administration Forum (WATAF-FAFOA) paid a courtesy visit to the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) of Côte d’Ivoire, as part of efforts to strengthen institutional cooperation and promote regional integration in tax administration.
The visit, which took place ahead of the conclusion of the Executive Secretary’s first mandate, was held in the presence of:
Dr. M’Bahia Maférima, Deputy Director General of Taxes of Côte d’Ivoire;
Mr. Ackah Miezan, Technical Adviser to the Director General;
Mr. M’Bra Sylvestre, Deputy Director for International Tax Cooperation and FAFOA Country Correspondent.

The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the shared commitment of WATAF-FAFOA and the Ivorian tax administration to sustained policy dialogue and technical cooperation aimed at strengthening domestic resource mobilisation and supporting sustainable development in West Africa.
WATAF-FAFOA also took the opportunity to commend the leadership of the Directorate General of Taxes of Côte d’Ivoire for its consistent commitment to promoting efficient, transparent, and harmonised tax systems. The Forum reaffirmed its readiness to deepen collaboration in pursuit of shared regional objectives.
Speaking on behalf of the Director General of Taxes, Mr. Sié Abou Ouattara, Dr. M’Bahia reaffirmed the availability and full support of the DGI of Côte d’Ivoire to strengthen the institutional capacity of WATAF-FAFOA in advancing the development and effectiveness of tax and customs administrations in West Africa.
