The West African Tax Administration Forum (WATAF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jules Tapsoba as the new Executive Secretary. His appointment was formally approved during the 20th General Assembly of WATAF, which took place on 12 September, 2024, in Bissau, Guinea Bissau.
He is a senior executive within the Burkina Faso Tax Administration and formerly served as Special Advisor to the Prime Minister on Public Finance issues. Mr. Tapsoba, an Economist and Tax expert, currently serves as a Technical Assistant for ECOWAS and UEMOA, based in Abuja, Nigeria. He takes over from Mr. Babatunde Oladapo, who has diligently served as Executive Secretary since WATAF’s Inception and laid a strong foundation for the organisation’s growth. Mr. Oladapo’s tenure saw significant strides in promoting tax harmonisation and cooperation within the West African region.
In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Tapsoba expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him and reaffirmed his commitment to building on the achievements of his predecessor, strengthening WATAF’s mission, and contributing to the economic development of the region.
