WATAF submits comments on the Zero Draft for the United Nations Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation

As the Second Session of the Ad Hoc Committee convenes from July 29, 2024, to August 16, 2024, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the agenda includes a crucial discussion on the Zero Draft Terms of Reference (ToR) for a United Nations Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation. The West African Tax Administration Forum (WATAF), an international organisation comprising 15 tax administrations from West Africa, has submitted its comments on the Zero Draft in this context.

WATAF’s submission is in line with its mandate to ensure that its members present a cohesive voice in international forums. The organisation focuses on experience sharing, information exchange, and capacity development in its member countries. These initiatives aim to improve the quality of tax administrations across West Africa, thereby mobilising significant and sustainable domestic revenues that are critical for development and the provision of social services.

WATAF hopes that the report of the Ad Hoc Committee’s meeting will reflect its submitted comments, thereby contributing to a robust and effective United Nations Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation.
