On 2nd February, 2022, the West African Tax Administration Forum (WATAF) organised the 2nd Country Correspondents Conference titled “Rethinking the Role of Tax Administration in Domestic Revenue Mobilisation (DRM): Post COVID-19”.
The purpose of the conference was to update member states’ Country Correspondents on the Forum’s 2022 activities. The Conference provided an opportunity for exchange of ideas and best practices in tax administration. It also served as a medium for harnessing useful feedback by the WATAF Secretariat.
Ms. Sabrine Marsit, a Managing Senior Associate from the International Bureau for Fiscal Documentation (IBFD), gave a presentation on “Rethinking the Role of Tax Administration in Domestic Revenue Mobilization (DRM): Post COVID-19,”. After the presentation, all Country Correspondents in attendance realised that they have a key role to play in ensuring that tax administrations have improved DRM during and after COVID. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue to serve as Country Correspondents by ensuring that their various tax administrations are represented at all WATAF capacity development trainings, which are aimed at enhancing DRM in the Region.
