The West African Tax Administration Forum in collaboration with the South Centre organized a four-day virtual training on “Taxing the Hard to Tax: High Networth Individuals (HNIs) and the Informal Sector” from 3-6 November 2020.
The aim of the training was to deepen the capacities of Tax Administration Officials of WATAF member countries in the intricate mechanism of identifying and profiling the players in the hard to tax areas with a view to increasing the revenue base of the region. Thus, a deliberate nomination of Senior Tax Officials whose functions were either one or a combination of Compliance Management, Tax Policy, International Tax and Special Tax Investigation of member states was done.
Seasoned experts on the subject matter from the South Centre, Federal Revenue of Brazil, Ministry of Finance of India, and a Tax Administration Adviser from Uganda were the facilitators during the training.
We are optimistic that the 64 trained Tax Officials upgraded their repertoire of required skills needed to tax the HNIs and the Informal Sector.
